Crocus will be available on Sunday, February 12th and 19th at a cost of $4.00 (50 each week). Sign up sheets are in the Narthex but not necessary.

Sleep mats for Haiti and/or Kenya

These mats are crocheted from the coloured milk bags which we are collecting in the narthex. On Wednesday afternoons at 1 pm we meet in the Marian Roffey room to fold, cut and loop together these bags which are then crocheted into 36” X 65” mats. Come and join us, there is a job for everyone and we can teach you to do the simple crochet. More information call Daphne 613-432-5147

Our U.C.W. is holding a BOOK, BAKE AND PLANT SALE on Friday, March 23rd from 4 pm to 8 pm to help raise funds for this worthwhile project. Please consider donating books that are in good condition and current. NO ENCYCLOPAEDIAS PLEASE. A bin has been provided in the Narthex for your donations. More information will follow.

  U.C.W’S GOLDEN
ANNIVERSARY PROJECT

The National UCW is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2012 and in response to this milestone work has begun on a special project. Maternal health is a huge problem in Africa and the statistics are staggering. For example: African women are 100 times more likely to die in childbirth than anywhere else in the world. There are 1500 maternal deaths every single day. Considering this and other information, the UCW is hopeful that enough funds can be raised to offer 2 Maternal Health Care Worker Training Courses, for women at the Morogoro Women’s Training Center. The United Church Mission and Service partner, the Christian Council of Tanzania, operates this center. Each course would include such things as training in birthing techniques, training in nutrition, emergency first aid and CPR, transportation, room & board during course; a medical kit for each student; instructors and teaching materials.

  Coffee Time
Following the Service

We still required volunteer(s) to prepare the refreshments following the service for the following dates: Sunday, Feb. 19th & Sunday, Feb. 26th Sign up sheet in the narthex.

  Camp Lau-Ren
is Looking for Directors

Summer Camp 2012 requires Directors for the Intermediate Co-Ed B (July 1 – 7) and Intermediate Girls (July 22 - 28). The Board has decided to hire all the Counselors this year, so the Director would only need to recruit Leaders (Bible Study, Crafts, Health Care Provider, Sports). We do have names of people who are interested in helping out at camps in leadership roles and could aid the Director in this regard. If you would consider doing this or know someone who might be interested, please see the church office for contact details.. Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Our Library is open any time the church is open.  The books on the cart outside the library this month are on the subject of Church Development and Social Justice.
